Cuddles and tears.

After a wonderful summer break today my daughter left for University.
She has only been gone a few hours
and I already miss her like mad.
She set off with lots of decorations for her new room, all made by us.
She didn't want anything shop bought she said, it wouldn't make her feel close to me.

It didn't take us long to decide on what would look homely. My daughter is very much like me. It just needs to be bright. These candle pots were our first project, they are very easy to make. All you need is some glass jars, bright napkins, odd bits of lace and ribbon, a bead or two and to put it all together some glue.

My daughter is also crazy about Lottie so while she was rooting around in my studio she found this half finished Popje on canvas. I was begged to finish the painting. I couldn't argue, it matches her bedding so well plus it would help to get my painting mojo back.

Then at the very last minute she really, really, really  needed bunting too.Tell me how can this girl possibly be so like me? No time to get out the sewing machine so off we set cutting out lots of traingles from my paper stash. We glued each triangle to natural twine and left them to dry for a couple of hours in my studio. It made me feel really happy because when we looked at all her new stuff we had a massive cuddle.

My studio and house feel very bare now she has gone, she promised she will come home very soon. I know she will but it doesn't help, I have lots of tears.

It's sooo good to have kids that cherish your work. I can understand how you feel, but kids have to grow eventualy, you know :)
Cry as much as you need to than enjoy watching your girl finding her way. She'll always be your little one. :)

She will settle in in no time with Lottie to keep her company... and can't believe a baby has flown the coop... how sad and exciting all at the same time... will be sending lots of positive thoughts your way...xx

Heftig he Manon.

The reason for your stated loss of motivation is making perfect sense now. Big big hugs Manon...it's so hard to have our babies grow up and be on their own. How wonderful that you had all this creative time together!! You should make lots of Popjes that look like your girl. xo
