Paper Saturdays and the art of paper cutting

Welcome to Paper Saturdays. This week I have tried to embrace the art of Paper Cutting a Scandinavian Paper Heart. It has been in the diary for a very long time but I was never brave enough to really try it out, you see I don't exactly have delicate little hands which I think are a must for this wonderful intricate work but then if you don't try you will never know will you so here you are.

What do you think? I bet you are smiling when you compare it to Clare Willcocks's gorgeous Paper cut out heart bellow. Yes it makes me smile too and I have learnt from my experience. I won't ever use thick card or a craft knife which was used for other projects than delicate art. I guess that just makes common sense just like good lighting and some damn good specs do when you just can't quite see as well as you did before but the best tip ever for me is to just try. Yes and there are some free patterns just bellow so no excuses. If you click on the images it will take you to the relevant sites. Let us know what you think.

You have all week to play and comment on the other artists' posts. Please be mindful and treat others like you would like to be treated yourself. Spread the word by using the button so others can find us too. Enjoy!

I think paper cuts are beautiful, small or large, more or less intricate! I used to do them for some time, when I still was at school and you just made me want to do a paper cut! I guess I won't blog about it just now, but I will join your lovely gathering again in the summer!

I love the contrast between the delicacy of your paper cut heart and its bold color. It's such a beautiful art form and there are so many styles of it throughout the cultures. Blessings!

Doesn't look like you need delicate little hands, your heart is fabulous! I love the bright color you selected too. What a wonderful piece.

Heel erg mooi. Daar moet je volgens mij heel veel geduld voor hebben. Een heel fijn weekend.

I think you have made a marvellous job of your first paper cut, so delicate. I've never been able to achieve such delicacy through lack of delicate touch, patience and eyesight not good enough, so you have my admiration.
Rob Ryan's work is beautiful, and a lovely book I have - just for the enjoyment of looking at the paper cuts - is 'Paper Cutting , Contemporary Artists, Timeless Crafts', pub Chronicle Books. Worth a look if you could get it at the library.
