Welcome to Paper Saturdays
It is wonderful to see you here at Paper Saturdays and we hope you will share your paper art with us today. There is a linky at the bottom of this post where you can link your art.
Some of you asked if it is OK to include paintings and drawings, well of course you can as long as there is some paper involved somewhere.
I was going to do an update on Lottie's studio today however after the above question I thought it might be more fitting to show you what can be done with your drawings. I am in love with 3D illustrations so I absolutely adore this process.
It so wonderfully easy to make your drawings alive by cutting out your illustration with a sharp craft knife. All you need to do is neatly cut around what you would like to stand up just leave the bottom bit attached to the paper.

Then turn your drawing and fold over just bellow the feet, stand her up and voila alive is your illustration. Go on give it a go and show us what you have done!
Lottie just left the studio out of pure embarrassment you may practise on Lottie bellow just save the image to your PC and print her out on card stock:0
Another artist who has paper art and 3D illustrations down to a fine T is Catherine Constance. I can really recommend paying her blog a visit. She really knows what girl power is. I love her little girls and I can't wait to see what she is creating for us today!
Now it is over to you! Please leave your name and relevant paper art post bellow and link back your post to this post so we know you are playing. You can grab the red polka dot button on my side bar to let others know you are participating.

Naughty is not bad.
I can tell by Lottie's face that she has been up to no good. That look just gives it away. She can be naughty but she doesn't mean it in a bad way. You know she is a good girl at heart. Ignoring her actions or telling her off doesn't really work. We have a good relationship we communicate :)

I am really pleased to say that Paper Saturdays was well received. Some of you wanted to know if you could include drawings and paintings. We can do those on paper so of course you can as long as there is paper involved some where. Just let your imagination run wild!
You can still link your art just go to my previous post, the linky will stay live so keep adding your art work and we will visit you or if you want to keep us in suspense then why not wait until next Saturday. You can grab the button bellow to share on your blog if you like.

A kiss before you go
The book I read this month for the Artful Reader's Club is A kiss before you go by fellow blogger and artist Danny Gregory. The book is an illustrated memoir to his wife Patti who died in a tragic accident.
I loved the illustrations in this book and felt very saddened reading about Danny's grieving process. It brought back again for me to how short life is and even though I enjoy kissing my loved ones all the time I will be doing it even more from now on. You just never know what is round the corner!

Space hat
Guess what Lottie's answer is to a bad hair day? Yes you guessed right...wear a hat. This beauty of a hat is yet another vintage find. It dates back from the 1960's when some fashion designers were very much inspired by the theme space. If you like this style then I can recommend you have a look over here. :)

Vintage style
Today Lottie is showing off her vintage finds from the 1950s. We love to rummage through old clothes in thrift stores with our brains geared to this may come in handy one day. Unfortunately most of the 1950s clothes are too small for me, I am what you call taller than average but Lottie on the other hand has a perfect statue for them. So for today Lottie is proud to show you another hat complementing her 1950s clothes :)

Selfportrait.
I am not much of a hat person but Lottie's hat madness over the last few days got me in the mood too. I tried several pieces of headgear on. I thought the one below looked the best but to be perfectly honest I am not convinced and I certainly won't be going out with a hat any time soon. What do you think does it suit me or maybe I should wear a pink nose with it too? :)

Drawing faces
I just couldn't resist drawing Lottie with yet another hat. Do I like her to be all grown up...I am not sure but I think it is good to push myself into uncomfortable spaces because this is often where I find most new inspiration :) Face 40 shared in PPF

A fashion statement.
I heard something funny the other day, it really made me smile. Apparently it is fashion to wear your night attire to go out and about in and I don't just mean to a fancy dress party no some people will actually go about their daily business in their pyjamas and slippers. I dared Lottie to give it a try but she didn't get further than the front lawn, maybe I need to buy her some new pyjamas :)

More fashion :)
I loved all the comments on my previous post. I had been wondering if I will keep up with fashion as I am going to grow older and after some more thinking I guess I will. I am an artist, I love colour and I love clothes but rather than following it exactly I think I will just pick and choose a lot more.
For now I am still at a stage where you just worry about does my bum look big in this but soon I will be approaching the age where you may start to think hmmmm can I still wear this or is it too young for me. But then is that maybe just what society expects us to think or do?
This gorgeous lady bellow at the age of 90ish has some wonderful ideas about fashion. You know I think I totally agree with her. I think I will become less bothered about fashion and more about style. I think the same about my drawings. Watch this video because this lady is a wonderful inspiration!Let me know what you think :)

Shasha face 32
I was asked to do a commission a little while back, transforming a real person into a Popje. You may remember the original sketch of Shasha, click here. When the client saw it she was somewhat horrified about the gap between the teeth and wanted to look like a pretty popje. So just for today Shasha is keeping her mouth closed and doesn't show you her inner beauty :)

Learning about pastels, face 30
Well here we go I am back working with the pastels again. I used a soft touch this time. I can tell you my nose is still loving me no sudden sneezes in protest. I think I am getting somewhere with this medium. Now I just need to keep to some basic stuff like measuring all the placements in the face rather than rushing things through. One day I am sure I will get there :)
