Paper Saturdays link up time and the joy of Paper Machee.

Are you ready for linking your paper art with us this week. We love to see what you have created. My Internet is all sorted and much more reliable now so I will be able to visit you again. I can't wait to see what you have in store.

This week I really wanted to make something colourful, fun and something just for me. I have always been a big fan of custom jewellery and ginormous beads and when I needed some Paper Machee for another project I saw my chance to make some yummy big beads with the left overs.

You can find a great recipe for Paper Machee over here. I rolled some balls from this recipe and pushed them onto a skewer and baked them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in the oven for about a hour at 200 degrees Fahrenheit and then let them cool for at least 30 minutes. My beads cracked a bit but this was easily fixed with some more Paper Machee and a little placement in the sun for a few more hours.

When the beads were totally dry I sanded them down and painted them in some funky neon colours and I patterned one bead with ink pens and paint. Before threading the beads on black cord I varnished them with a gloss varnish. I used this one which will keep the beads water resitant so I can still cycle in the rain.

If you would like to join us please

I love the chunkiness of these beads and the fact that you made them completely from scratch! By the way, I keep meaning to print the little doll, now I'm staying at Mum and Dad's for the weekend, I might be able to!
