Face 29 Happy as a Pig in muck!

Today Lottie is feeling as happy as a Pig in Muck. We did it... 29 faces for the 29Face Challenge! I know, I know we are late they should have finished in February but sometimes life just happens and then art for pleasure needs to take a backseat. I  have decided to continue with my faces so I have set myself a target of doing 200 Faces for 2013. Now I need to get myself away from the studio to buy some decent paper for this Challenge. See you soon :)

Face 27 Jonas

Today for the 29 face Challenge a little friend for Lottie called Jonas. It is not often I draw boys faces, Lottie isn't much into boys but today is special because my gorgeous friend had a baby boy and we needed to make some little gifts for him. I love seeing my drawings on little T-shirts it gives me a real satisfied feeling. I am planning on doing more of these and put them in my Etsy store when I have some time. First I need to finish 2 more faces :)

Face 23 and 24

This afternoon my sister and little nephew flew back home. I feel all choked with tears if I let them go I would be able to swim in them. I wished we could live round the corner from each other. My nephew would have loved to help me out even more with the faces for the 29Face Challenge. I have 5 more to do in two days :((((

Face number 20

Lottie's family has come over for a few days and she is finding it hard keeping the faces coming for the 29Face Challenge. She likes to sit and chat but maybe the family will help her out, there is one little helper she has particularly in mind.

Faces 18 and 19

Two more little faces for the 29 Face Challenge inspired by the book I read for the Artful readers' club Challenge. 'The hundred year old man who climbed out of the window' by Jonas Jonasson.

Allan the main character of the book at the ripe old age of 100 still seems to think he is a spring chicken. On his 100th birthday Allan climbs out of the window of the old folks' home where he lived and goes on a wild adventure. Accidental murder soon becomes a theme throughout the story.

Together with some newly acquired buddies Allan finds himself in difficult situations but nothing much seems to outface this man just like in his past when Allan worked as an bomb expert for some very famous historical figures of whom he sometimes got on the wrong side of.

I won't spoil the end of the story but this book is a great holiday read, nothing heavy or brain boggling.

Face number 17

I hope you are not getting bored with my pastel faces for the 29Face Challenge. Lottie's face seemed perfect today for a bit of pastel. I couldn't resist drawing her in some soft colours. I rather like the look. I can feel another doll coming on.

Faces 15 and 16

I have come up with two faces today in order to catch up with the 29Face Challenge. As you may  know I have been trying to stick to pastels and it is getting harder and harder to stick with it. The dust particles are driving me mad. Some of you suggested pan pastels so I took your advice and drew little Lottie. I guess you can tell I only have a few colours but Lottie is happy with the way she looks.

Also a new little face for you. This little lady lives in my sketch book for now. I called her Sha Sha after someone special. I often get requests for making a popjes face from photos of loved ones. I enjoy making these rough sketches, I feel free and just let myself go. It doesn't bother me how it looks as long as it makes me giggle :)

Retro Baby, Face 14

I am still experimenting with the pastels but might need to buy myself a mask. The dust is causing my nose to be blocked permanently I don't like to think what else it might be doing to me. Anyway here is another little monkey which could possibly turn into a doll. I have called her Retro baby hoping she will attract many new visitors to my blog as it is a style you see a lot right now in the UK. Well that is Retro not Retro baby. I hope it comes up high on the search engines :)Well don't laugh you never know! What do you think is the dust affecting my brain?

Face 13

I would like you to meet small Bibo, he is Lottie's little friend. For now Bibo is a pastel drawing but soon I am hoping to bring him alive as a real little character. I love working with pastels but they are getting up my nose a bit.

Face 11 and 12

I have fallen behind with the 29face challenge. Life sometimes happens and gets in the way of creating art. I feel I am in the right frame of mind so I will catch up over the weekend. Wishing you all a happy belated Valentine's day. I hope it was a good one?

Face number 10

Two faces posted for the 29face Challenge enough drawing for today. I am still in my PJs and not looking much like a model.
See you tomorow.

Face number 9

I decided to listen to you and take a little break from the pastels. Today or rather yesterday I created a face for the 29face Challenge using pencils and ink pens. I didn't post it yesterday because I was too busy socialising at a winter barbecue. Sizzling sausages, dress code blankets, great fun and mad friends. What more do you want I would say.

The colours in the drawing don't look as muddy in real life. This is the best photo I could take with the light available today. My scanner was even less kind to the drawing. Anyway I guess it doesn't really matter because I am not in the Challenge to win a prize. I am in it to keep focused on creating every day even when inspiration is running at its lowest and I get sick of the mediums I have availble. I will be back tonight with another face!

Friday, 8 February 2013

Lets be serious.

I am having a hard time taking drawing with pastels serious today. I think I have overdone it. I am at a stage just like when you eat too much chocolate. I am feeling sick and I am in need of something that makes me feel OK again. Something new....but what.....it has to be healthy! Any suggestions?

Kissing frogs, face number 7

I am still working with pastels but it feels like I am kissing a frog right now. I hit a block with this medium and not sure where to go with it next. I cheated a little not showing you the real pastel drawing instead an altered one. I am going to stick with this medium like they say you don't get to your prince until you have kissed many frogs. I wonder what the pastels will bring me tomorrow. I am hoping for a real prince.

Face number 4

Today it was time for Lottie to play and playing she did. Another face in pastels. I think we have a bit of an addiction going at the moment. Maybe we shall just do one more face in pastels what do you think?
